The First Peoples Innovation Centre, thanks to generous funding from the Secrétariat aux affaires autochtones, implemented an anti-bullying initiative (“Lutte contre l’intimidation”) from January to November 2017. Following up on work done with some high schools in the region, the FPIC was able to release a tool to help teachers and other school workers better understand Indigenous culture. When implemented properly, the tool helps foster closer ties between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Gatineau schools.
