Nature of the Position
The First Peoples Innovation Centre (FPIC) is a reference organization that supports innovative social initiatives where Indigenous and non-Indigenous people collaborate to promote and activate the full potential of First Peoples, in a context of authentic and lasting reconciliation.
The FPIC is seeking a Program Officer for a duration of 8 weeks.
Responsibilities
The program officer will provide support to the program analysis and development team. The officer will be responsible for:
- Researching and analyzing information on potential funding opportunities for the organization
- Managing the database related to various FPIC activities
- Writing documents (reports, summaries, etc.)
- Participating in the project evaluation process
- Carrying out other assigned tasks
Required Experience and skills
- Hold a post-secondary diploma in a related field of study
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in database management and analysis
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Experience working in an Indigenous context (an asset)
Conditions
Be between 15 and 30 years old (inclusive) at the start of employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial or territorial laws and regulations
- Compensation: Between $18 and $20 per hour
- Weekly schedule: 35 hours, Monday to Friday

The First Peoples Innovation Center (FPIC) is a benchmark organization that supports innovative social initiatives where Indigenous and Non-Indigenous work together to put the full potential of First Peoples into action, in a context of authentic and lasting reconciliation.
The First Peoples Innovation Center (FPIC) is looking for a part-time and full-time Instructor at Indigenous FabLabs to implement projects that are taking place in Gatineau and in Indigenous communities.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of Lead instructors, the Instructor:
- Facilitates Indigenous FabLab workshops and trainings of the CIPP-FPIC;
- Ensures all machines, equipment, materials and supplies needed for training are available;
- Sets up and tests machines that will be used during cohort training;
- Trains Assistant Instructors and participants on the proper usage of various digital fabrication technologies and software (such as 3D printing, digital engraving and milling) and on the maintenance and calibration of digital fabrication technologies;
- Ensures all participants understand and follow applicable policies and procedures of the CIPP-FPIC;
- Travels to Indigenous communities to provide the necessary training.
Key skills
- Excellent communication skills, including report writing and presentation of results.
- Excellent command of French and English.
Requirement
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical or electronic engineering or any other related field;
- Excellent knowledge of 3D printers, laser cutters and digital milling machines (CNC);
- At least 1 year of work experience in an environment (fablab or makerspace);
- Valid driver’s license.
