The First Peoples Innovation Centre received funding from the Secrétariat à la condition féminine to implement the second phase of this project, which unfolded from March 2016 to March 2017. The lessons learned during the first phase of the project helped this second phase go beyond the classic orientation and training sessions to provide individualized support services.
Support for these women took the form of healing circles, coffee meet-ups, orientation sessions with employability services organizations, and educational workshops with employers. These sessions took place over a longer period of time to allow for individual discussions with Elders. The goal was for these women to be able to find a foothold in the city and benefit from the experience of their peers without losing their values.
